What’s your return policy?
If you are not sure whether a program will be a good fit for you and your dog, there are several ways to find out:
- Contact us – we are happy to answer any questions you have in full
- Come and watch a class – it will help give you a sense of how it works in person
- Try a class – if the program you are interested in is not full, you’re welcome to try the first class with your dog (class price varies)
Payment is due in full to reserve your program spot. If you need to cancel within 14 days of the start of the program, you are entitled to a full refund. If you cancel within 7 days of the start of the program, you are entitled to a 50% refund. Cancellations that are received 2 days before the program starts, or once the program has started are not entitled to a refund.
If either you or your dog becomes ill during the program and cannot in good faith continue, we will happily put the pro-rated program cost towards another program (credit must be used within 1 year). Any further questions? Contact us.
Do I have to be fit to join Fetching?
Definitely not! Our programs are designed to cater to all fitness levels. So whether you’re just starting to get back into the swing of things, or you’re training for your next half-marathon, you will feel that perfect balance of challenged and supported.
Does my dog need to be trained to join Fetching?
Our programs are designed for dogs or mature puppies who have basic obedience skills and are looking to improve their behaviour in a structured environment. Does your dog knows his name, walk next to you (most of the time!), and sit & stay (unless a squirrel runs by)? Is your dog still working on recall (come), patience, and listening to you while there’s distraction around? Then our programs are for you. If you have a dog who requires one-on-one obedience training, contact us.
Will my dog be on or off-leash?
Dogs are on-leash for most of our programs. The exception is Tails on Trails where dogs are off-leash in designated hiking areas, or in our Advanced Agility class, if dogs are ready for that challenge. Keeping your dog on-leash in both of those programs is always an option.
What should I bring to each session?
Wear comfortable clothing, athletic shoes and bring a 4 or 6 foot leash. Bring water for yourself, and for your dog (if you’ve joined a class that “travels” i.e. Tails on Trails or Pup-up Classes).
What happens if it rains?
A little rain never hurt anyone! Classes will go on unless there is a threat of lightning or significant rainfall. Class cancellations are called 2 hrs before class, and will be posted on the website AND emailed to the group, so if it is raining or threatening to rain, please check the website or your email before you head to class.
What results can I expect from Fetching?
Fetching classes will improve your overall fitness level. Each class works on advancing your cardio-vascular capacity and general strength; the intensity and results depend directly on how often you attend class.
What will my dog learn from Fetching?
First and foremost, you will find that your connection with your dog will improve—your dog will start to listen to you more closely and look to you for direction. Your dog will also learn how to behave calmly in a group setting—an important socialization skill. Each program includes visit from an experienced Dog Trainer, who will arm you with the skills you need to be a great leader for your dog.
Can I join a program mid-cycle?
Yes you can. In some cases, we require a short obedience session with our Dog Trainer to make sure you’re able to join the class smoothly. We pro-rate the cost of the program depending on when you join. Contact us for more details.
Can I bring my kids?
In order to ensure everyone in class has a great experience, we have developed some guidelines:
Kids 13 years and under are free, and 1 can be on the floor at a time with a parent who has paid for the full program.
We encourage kids 14 years or older to participate by themselves with their dog. Mom or Dad can feel free to attend and watch, or join in and participate for an extra charge of $100 per parent.
